Sending out an invoice and following up is
the accepted and formal manner of getting
paid, of course. But it doesn’t always follow
so easily that payment will occur.
So here are some ways to make sure you get
paid when you’re not on salary or otherwise
“committed” to a guaranteed revenue.
Get Professional!
Okay, so you might work in your undies and
have a rare need to dress up for the public,
but your delivery on work and prompt replies
to emails or instant messages can make a
difference on whether you get paid on time
or not.
Even a shoddy website can make a
difference. If you can’t invest the time to
create a pro-looking site for yourself, then
just make a static page with a slick logo. At
least it will make you look too busy servicing
actual customers to create your own “vanity”
website.
Research! Spy!
Anyone can show up with a slick, templated
site with apparent experience in porn - but if
you don’t actually know them by reputation
or reference, how can you know they’re the
real deal?
Look ‘em up! Find out if they’ve been
around the boards, done business before, or
had sites up a while.
