So. Welcome to the new scary world of the
post-Coronavirus panic. I am isolated and
self quarantined and on curfew from 8PM every
night to 8 or 9 the next morning. I cannot fly out
of the country.
You? Hahah... and sigh.
When I started writing this welcome
message I had confidence that we would
continue our world-wide infestation of benign
porn entrepreneurs gathering and conducting
business as usual.
After all, if self-quarantines just kept
happening, online business could boom on so
many levels, especially our own!
But still, our industry thrives on social
closeness, mingling and schmoozing and
networking live, together... but now, with
governments starting to lock down borders and
whole countries within themselves, it looks like
we’re getting hit pretty hard on that level.
First, LALExpo had to cancel their new Las
Vegas edition. Then, AWSummit in Mamaia did
so as well. Cancellations, however, turned to
postponements. And, ever the grand optimists,
new dates were announced.
I’ve had to restart this welcome sucker twice,
or three times... especially and not only one then
two big shows have been rescheduled due to
the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19
pandemic.
Now that it’s official the United States has
prohibited all flights to and from Europe for 30
days, well... who knows what’s next?
Are we going to start doing virtual
conventions? Posting selfie-galleries in Payout
Magazine?
At this time, it is all up in the air, but not
literally... at least for those of us who need to fly
in order to work.
But Payout Magazine will keep on pluggin’
away - literally, plugging your wares and content
and services, as long as we’re all out here even
if we’re not out there - as long as you’re around,
we’re around.
And of course, capturing industry events and
gatherings in pics isn’t all that Payout is about
- there’s also the words and thoughts of our
community scribes, which in this issue include
Eddie Jobs and award-winner Alex Lecompte,
among others.

With this in mind, along with galleries from
the last BCams show in romantic Romania and
select shots from the XBiz Miami 2019 event,
we have an article about the market-within-a-
market in the gay demographic, some thoughts
on thinking ahead when it comes to tagging
your blogs, as well as another piece about not
blowing it with a blog (or any site) that I’m not
sure is meant to be harsh... or funny? but it’s
true.
Getting more straight-laced in some domains
which apply to business whether “mainstream”
or adult, you can read bout how not to get
tangled in the pricing question when it comes
to sales strategies, and some info that might (or
not) get the sticky out of cryptocurrency (in my
case, not).
Joey Gabra also drops in with some
reflections of his own on his own company-
client relationships which really deep-down
apply to all such partner-provider overlaps,
and we have some words of wisdom from Lola
Davina about post-event blues which might
become nostalgia if the current state of affairs
goes on long enough...
So that’s it, until next issue, dive in and enjoy,
and make like you’re at an actual tradeshow as
you flip through these virtual or actual pages,
and remember to always wash your hands
(which in our industry goes without saying
regardless of COVID 19!).
